X-Rays Saved My Life
A little over three years ago I was installing a water line. In the process I hurt my back. A friend of mine told me about Dr. Mike and I went to him. He x-rayed my spine and in the process of reading the x-ray he found an aneurism on my aorta. Dr. Mike made appointments with two other doctors to have it checked out. The result was an operation to install a prosthesis. So in a sense I owe my existence to the ability of my chiropractor, Dr. Mike, to see more on the x-ray than just my spine.
Why do chiropractors take X-rays?
In order to properly diagnose a patient's condition, x-rays are commonly taken. These x-rays are used to check vertebral alignment, disc degeneration, proper curvature, scoliosis, and other serious pathology. Chiropractors use x-rays to document a patient's progress as well. With the advancement of high-speed film and limited exposure, the amount of radiation used is far outweighed by the useful information gained by actually seeing the patient's spine. As in Mr. Mummerts case, the quality of the x-ray allowed a clear visualization of a life threatening problem that was fortunately realized and immediately acted upon.
